Our Vision

To foster a world where all people are free from stigma, confident in their stories, and empowered to heal and thrive.

The Interruption Project:
Creating Pathways to Healing

The mission of the Interruption Project is to disrupt the silence around trauma and mental health by creating culturally responsive spaces where individuals, families, and communities can explore, unlearn, and reframe their experiences. Through trauma-informed education, spiritual care, and culturally grounded practices, we build pathways to healing, wellness, and resilience.

Built on the work of Reverend Dr. Odell Montgomery Cooper’s Interruptions: Disrupting the Silence, this non-profit program seeks to spread its mission by empowering community and faith-based organizations through teaching, support and outreach. By equipping our community with the tools and language to address trauma, the Interruption Project helps foster environments where difficult conversations can become opportunities for connection and transformation. Our work centers upon the wisdom, strengths, and lived experiences of communities as essential resources for creating lasting change.

It’s time to dismantle the roadblocks that prevent us from talking about social injustice, mental health and generational trauma. Through faith-based and community leadership we can create a pathway forward and move beyond the interruptions that that erode our well-being and diminish our lives. The Interruption Project aims to educate, uplift and help heal individuals and communities through multiple outreach programs and peer-to-peer training.
