Programs & Services

The Interruption Project launches with the Interruption Institute Leadership Academy, establishing a foundation for transformative leadership and community healing. From there, the Project will expand into programs addressing youth wellness, incarcerated reentry, community mental health, trauma, and more—creating culturally responsive spaces that disrupt silence, build resilience, and strengthen individuals, families, and communities.

Interruption Institute Leadership Academy

Trauma-informed education and training for faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, community leaders, and individuals seeking to better understand the impact of trauma and apply trauma-informed practices in their work, relationships, and communities.

The Academy’s core service will be a curriculum-based, eight-week workshop series offered virtually or in person. The series will provide participants with foundational knowledge of trauma, its impact on individuals and communities, and practical tools for applying trauma- informed principles in organizational, community, and everyday settings.

Interruption Academy Ambassador Program

Ambassadors will meet twice a month for four months, receiving ongoing support as they apply their training within their communities. The Academy seeks to move trauma-informed care from primarily a professional concept into everyday community practice. Ambassadors will receive education and peer support in facilitation, leadership, resource navigation, communication, and community engagement within their congregations, organizations, families, and neighborhoods.

Their goal is to implement a program or initiative within their organization and extend its impact throughout the New Haven community. This train-the-ambassador approach will build a sustainable network of trusted leaders who can continue this work beyond the grant period and into future generations.
